As a young boy, Benzel's family and entire village are murdered by Berserkers. He spends his life hunting down those Berserkers, becoming a dragonslayer along the way.

The Pingzi & Benzel series (fantasy/mystery)

Pingzi Po is an 11-year-old girl and a member of the royal family. She has the natural-born ability to see portents and quell demons, even though she has no idea how to recognize demons, much less how to quell them. Benzel is a Northlander, old enough to be her grandfather, who has accepted the responsibility of acting as her guardian.

Together, they solve mysteries.

While appropriate for middle-grade readers, I wrote this series with the intention of showing a dangerous world through the eyes of a girl who must use her wits to stay safe. In other words, I wrote it for adults, but it's appropriate for younger readers.

This series takes place within the timeframe of the Dragon Seed series. These books take place immediately following Berserk.

The Black Land Murders series (fantasy/mystery)

This is a two-book series in which ancient Egypt meets our modern world.
